We are seeking an experienced service-minded professional to join the Global Colleague Solutions and Services Organization within the Colleague Experience Group as a Payroll and Unemployment Specialist. This position will be responsible for supporting the US Payroll and tax function, including, implementing and overseeing the unemployment claim process. The specialist role will contribute to driving efficiencies, effectiveness and consistent delivery of high-quality payroll and tax initiatives. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, knowledgeable in human resources, benefits administration and payroll tax.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintains substantial knowledge and ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations as it pertains to payments and taxation of wages and benefits
- Effectively responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll, wage benefits, and state unemployment insurance
- Effectively respond to state inquiries regarding unemployment benefits and claims
- Process all SUI rate updates and filing frequency changes
- Manage completion of colleague separation letters including timely delivery
- Conducts fact finding research on disputed unemployment insurance claims
- Manages all incoming requests for verification and unemployment claims
- Respond to colleague inquiries and requests pertaining to payroll and tax
- Ensure meticulous processing of transactions in adherence to internal policies, controls, procedures, and government agency regulations
- Assist in identifying risks and implementing new controls as needed
- Cultivate specialized expertise in tax issues, payroll reporting, HCM and Dayforce software, and other payroll systems through active participation in job training and seminars
- Engage proactively in team projects
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or as responsibilities
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices, ensuring transactions align with internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 2-5 years of related payroll experience or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
- Experience with payroll processing systems
- Knowledgeable on Unemployment Insurance Claims
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding employee information
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically or through other means to individuals or groups
- Possess strong interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills and can interact effectively with colleagues at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
- FPC, CPP certification
- Multi - State taxation experience
- Oracle, Dayforce experience
Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
